About

Katie enjoys working with patients with orthopedic conditions - especially athletes (from student athletes to weekend warriors). She has a passion for serving young female athletes, but enjoys serving folks of all ages and backgrounds in getting back to what they love doing. Her goal is to provide an environment that's caring, empathetic, and non-intimidating, making quality healthcare more accessible and personable for those who need it.As a lifelong athlete, Katie developed a close relationship with many sports medicine providers from middle school through college. Getting first-hand experience with working with a PT as an athlete sparked an interest that led Katie to follow a career path with the goal of giving back to the athletic community. She earned a bachelors degree in Athletic Training from Hardin-Simmons in Abilene, Texas before receiving her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Washington University in St. Louis. She has lived all over the nation but is drawn to the rainy mountains and warm people of the PNW.

Specialties

Sports Medicine: as both a certified athletic trainer and physical therapist, Katie has extensive experience working with athletic individuals from the time of injury all the way until they return to play. She has taken numerous courses surrounding care specific to athletes: from injury prevention, athlete wellness, nutrition, strength and conditioning, to tailoring sport-specific rehab programs. Katie enjoys working together with athletes to make sure their uninjured body parts continue to stay active to help them reduce the effects of inactivity and shorten the time to returning to sport participation. Movement System Approach: Katie was trained to look at the full-body when assessing injuries to identify all possible contributors to pain - with individualized treatment plans for each patient. She doesn't use cookie-cutter approaches, as each body is unique and deserves a unique plan for recovery. This approach is centered around the goals of the patient to make sure the needs of the patient are the main priority. ACL Rehab: Katie has performed extensive research and training in the rehabilitation of ACL tears. She has a lot of experience in tailoring programs based on the type of surgery performed, age, gender, and desired post-injury activity level.
