Derek was born and raised in northern California, where he grew to become an outgoing and active nomad. He completed his Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology Exercise Science from Fresno State University where he competed as a Division 1 Track and Field athlete (jumps/hurdles/decathlete). Following undergrad, he moved to south Orange County and worked in the finance sector for Ayco: A Goldman Sachs Company while he prepared for graduate school. He completed his Doctorate of Physical Therapy at Mass General Hospital Institute of Health Professions in Boston, MA; and earned a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist certification from the NSCA to enhance his expertise in crafting effective training programs. From an advanced level of competition and the dedication to understanding the science behind human performance, he would come to find his niche in jumps, sprints, and weightlifting. With over 23 years of experience with plyometric training, he has harnessed its utility to elevate human performance across various disciplines and to enhance rehabilitation services. Derek believes we should all "Move Well to Experience Well." If we only get one of these lives, let's live it the best we can!

Derek did a comprehensive return-to-sport evaluation for me. I'm about 8 months post op from an ACL reconstruction and still struggling to get the affected leg back to baseline. I was impressed by his professionalism, attention to detail, and passion for patient care. In my long ACL recovery I have worked with many physical therapists, so I think I have a good perspective on the standard of care patients should come to expect from private physical therapy. In addition, I'm a medical provider myself. So with this perspective I can enthusiastically recommend Derek to anyone who's looking for a physical therapist, especially one who specializes in ACL / sports recovery.
